Police Seeking Man Who Attempted To Lure Kids Away From Bus Stop

RankinGASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Police in Gaston County are looking for a man who is going to school bus stops trying to lure children into his car.

They say he’s tried at least two times and investigators want to catch him before he strikes again.

Police informed the schools in Gaston County so they could alert parents.

The man has gone to the same school bus stop two times within the last week. That bus stop feeds into two different schools.

Mount Holly Middle and Ida Rankin Elementary School are right across the street from one another.

Police say last Thursday and Friday morning, a man in a blue Nissan or Honda went to the bus stop and tried to lure students into his car.

“The information we have is that he offered alcohol and pornographic material to these students and told him to skip school and come with him,” said Chief Don Roper with Mount Holly police.

Police say they’re looking for a white man with reddish brown hair.

Police are looking into whether this is the same man who tried to abduct a young boy in McAdenville a few weeks ago.

The suspect descriptions are similar but police aren’t linking them just yet.

Police are asking people in the area to be on alert.  If you happen see the suspect or a car matching the description try to get a tag number and call police immediately.
