Property Team Convicts Defendant in Felony Stolen Goods Trial

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – During the week of November 5-9, 2012, the District Attorney’s Property Team called cases for trial in courtroom 5170 before The Honorable Kenneth F. Crow, Superior Court Judge and in courtroom 5370 before The Honorable Richard D. Boner, Superior Court Judge, following the completion of a homicide trial.

Quentin Dye, 22, was tried for 1) count of felony possession of stolen goods. The jury returned a verdict of guilty of felony possession of stolen goods. Judge Crow sentenced Dye to 9-11 months in prison; that sentence was suspended pending his successful completion of 30 days of supervised probation and his payment of $2,984.50 in court fines and fees.

Thomas Cooney, 19, was tried for 1) felony breaking or entering and 2) felony larceny. The jury was not able to reach a verdict in either of the charges and a mistrial was declared by Judge Boner.

Eddie Land, 54, entered a guilty plea to failure to register as a sex offender. Judge Crow sentenced Land to 15-19 months in prison; that sentence was suspended pending his successful completion of 24 months of supervised probation. As one of his conditions of probation, Land was required to serve 30 days in the county jail.
