CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. – The bomb squad was called to a scene in Cabarrus County after a live grenade was found in a box.
The grenade was found in a box at Beggar’s Bazaar on N Lee Street, near Old Lutheran Cemetery, early Thursday.
Officials say someone had picked the box up from an estate, and found the explosive while going through it. That person contacted the authorities.
The bomb squad was then called out and N Lee Street was closed as a precaution.
The road was re-opened around 3:10 p.m.
