Robbery Suspect Crashes Stolen Vehicle on I-77

A robbery suspect was arrested Tuesday after wrecking the stolen vehicle while attempting to exit to South Tryon Street from I-77.

Right before 10 a.m. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police had tried to stop 17-year-old Reginald Anderson in the vehicle on Clanton Road near I-77. The vehicle had been stolen early Sunday during a robbery in the 600 block of East Eighth Street.

Anderson has been charged with  possessing a stolen vehicle, possessing a firearm by a felon, robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony probation violation, no operator’s license, hit and run, and speeding to elude law enforcement.

Anderson was treated at Carolinas Medical Center for small injuries during the crash before being jailed on $124,500 bail, according to police.
