Police in Rock Hill arrested a man for child abuse after the victim’s grandmother called in the report. Thirty-three year-old Hamilton Morales was charged with unlawful conduct toward a child after officers arrived at his home. At about 5:00 Wednesday evening, Morale’s mother called the authorities because her son was abusing her grandson. Morales communicated to police that his son was being punished for something that happened at school.
Morales’ 10 year-old son told police that after his father beat him in the legs with a belt, he made him walk around in their back yard wearing a backpack that was full of weights. Officers found marks and scrapes on the boy’s body that were consistent with his story. Morales was jailed in Rock Hill under a $5,000 bond.
