An email safety alert was sent out Friday night to thousands of students and faculty at UNC Charlotte after a man reportedly was seen with a gun on campus. Around 6pm the suspect was playing basketball with about a dozen people over at Martin Village, one of the housing units at the school, when an argument broke out between two of the men- that is when a witness saw the man pull a gun out.
Once UNCC police were alerted, a safety email alert was sent out. An officer with the campus police said safety for the students is always their top concern.
An hour later, the suspect, Adrian Young, 28, was arrested at the Circle K near campus on Highway 49. Young is not a student at UNC Charlotte.
