Schools Enforce Secure Protocol With Burglary Suspects on the Loose

CIC Default Police Line TapeThree burglary suspects were taken into custody this morning following the implementation of Clover School District’s “secure school protocol,” according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 9:30 a.m., Clover High School posted on Facebook about the incident involving heavy law enforcement in the Clinton Dairy Rd. and Kingsbury Rd. areas. The incident didn’t involve anyone from the school or school personnel.

The school district’s Public Information Officer Bryan Dillon became aware of the situation around 7:50 a.m. when one of the suspect fled the scene.

Each of the schools, Bethel and Griggls elementaries, Oakridge, Clover High, and Oakridge Middle stayed in contact with police and had to enforce secure school protocol for safety, Dillon said.

During the protocol, the school door stay locked and student remain in their classrooms but daily activities continue as normal, Dillon said.

The suspect who fled was arrested and all three suspects were apprehended, according to Trent Faris, sheriff’s office public information officer. The school protocol was lifted around 8:55 a.m., according to Dillon.
