CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — A registered sex offender will spend more than eight years in jail because he didn’t register on the sex offenders registry.

James Williams was convicted of rape in 1999 in Catawba County and was required to be on the state registry.

Investigators said when he moved two years ago, he never reported his new address.

A judge sentenced him Wednesday to serve jail time.
