Man Found Dead In Southwest Charlotte ID’d

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have identified a man who was found dead of a gunshot wound in the parking lot of an Applebee’s restaurant in south Charlotte last night.

William Lee Ellis Tunson, 21, was found dead in a car that was parked in an Applebee’s restaurant parking lot.  A man parked beside the car that Mr. Tunson was in, noticed him and ran inside a business there telling them to call 911.

Charlotte Mecklenburg police say when they arrived on the scene they found a man dead of an apparent gunshot wound.  Medic pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives were called in and is currently investigating the crime.

Because the crime scene was in such a busy area they are hoping some witnesses will come forward.  If you have any information pertaining to this case you’re asked to call 704-432-TIPS and ask to speak to a Homicide Unit Detective.  You can remain anonymous.  Detective Tisdale is the lead detective in the case.
