Social Media Campaign Helped Find Child Porn Suspect

perv 1PORTLAND, Ore (AP) – The FBI has found the man they referred to as John Doe 27, who was suspected of sexual exploitation of a child.

The FBI reached out for the public’s help nationwide Tuesday in the case. Though there were only sparse clues – the man wore a ring, had a distinctive plaid chair and might have been called Jimmy – investigators were hoping that a social media campaign would help find him.

The bureau announced Thursday that the suspect has been located in somewhere the Midwest.

The FBI did not release many details, but spokeswoman Beth Anne Steele said public input helped investigators solve the case.

“No further comments will be made as the investigation remains ongoing, however the FBI wishes to express its gratitude to the public for their vigilance and assistance,” Steele said Thursday.
