Speed, Alcohol Played Role In Deadly Motorcycle Crash

BlueCHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police were investigating a crash that took the life a motorcyclist Wednesday night in northeast Charlotte.

Police were called to the crash in the 6900 block of Highland Creek Parkway around 8 p.m.

According to police, the motorcyclist –- identified as 38-year-old Jamie Allen Szot — was traveling at a high rate of speed when he ran off the roadway and struck a tree.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers said they believe speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.
