A Statesville man has been arrested in the sexual assault of a child from 2005 until several years after, according to Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell.
Marcus Jerome Briggs, 40, received four counts of taking indecent liberties with a child and one count of first-degree rape of a child.
The age of the victim when the assaults began has not been released.
The assaults were reported by the victim on April 9. Investigators interviewed the victim at the Statesville Dove House Children’s Advocacy Center, Campbell said.
Briggs has been jailed on $200,000 bail.
