Statesville Man Jailed in Shooting of Wife Outside Her Work

police lineA man wanted for the attempted murder of his wife was returned to Statesville on Friday after being captured in Texas by U.S. Marshals.

Cisneros Genaro Morales was taken to the Iredell County Jail on a $200,000 bail on the attempted first-degree murder warrant and with no bail on domestic charges, Statesville police said.

On Sept. 25, police found Tornez Casiano Morales at Iredell Fiber on Fanjoy Road, her workplace, with multiple gunshot wounds. She was outside her vehicle and on her meal break when she was shot, according to police Capt. David Onley.

She managed to run to the door of the business and get inside, Onley said. The shooter then ran away.

U.S. Marshals found her Morales’ husband in Bexar County, Texas, on Dec. 1. The county seat is San Antonio.
