Stupid Crime of the Week: Robbery Suspects Leave Trail of Macaroni

n-MACARONI-SALAD-BANDITS-large570Three burglary suspects were arrested by police in Mt. Morris, New York after police followed a macaroni salad trail the crooks left during their getaway.

According to a Livingston County Sheriff’s Office release, the Build-A-Burger Restaurant was broken into and cash was stolen from the register along with the whole surveillance system of the building.

But that’s not all—also stolen was a big bowl of macaroni salad.

According to the sheriff’s office, police tailing the suspects found a trail of parts of the surveillance system, cash register, some loose change, rubber gloves, and macaroni salad pieces.

Police said they later discovered the suspects had been taking turns eating the bowl of macaroni salad as they made their escape.

Those arrested were James P. Marullo, 35, Matthew P. Sapetko, 34, and Timothy S. Walker Jr., 23. Each was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, third-degree burglary, and fourth-degree grand larceny.

Police said Walker is also to be charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.
