A sex offender compliance sweep to verify addresses of nearly 350 registered sex offenders in York County ended after a three day operation. The York County Sheriff’s Office with the help of a US Marshal’s Office taskforce performed the sweep.
Of the 347 registered sex offenders, 340 were found in compliance. According to police, the seven sex offenders who addresses could not be verified will have warrants issued for their arrests. Police also said the sex offenders will be actively pursued until they are in police custody.
The compliance check is done at least once a year. Officers say they do this in hopes of assuring the community that the Sheriff’s Office is ahead of the sex offenders; that they are not wanting for something to happen.
