Two Arrested And Facing Robbery Charges

Two men were arrested by Concord police Monday morning after robbing a business in Kannapolis. The robbery happened at the Jordan’s Hot Spot on South Main Street around 4am. The two suspects displayed handguns and demanded money and then ran.

A short time later, an officer with the Concord Police Department noticed a suspicious vehicle that had two occupants in it that matched the description of the suspects. When the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the occupants ran into a nearby wooded area. Officers caught the suspects and arrested them a short time later.

Johnny L. Steele was caught after suffering a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to CMC Northeast Hospital. Michael A. Smith was also arrested and is being charged with robbery. Warrants for Steele have already been processed and he will be arrested after receiving treatment for his injuries.
