Thirty one year old Odell Mychal Smallwood and twenty nine year old Jamal William Howard are being charged with the robbery of the PLS Check Cashing off of North Tryon Street. Police were sent to the store after two employees said they were robbed at gunpoint. During the questioning, an officer saw a man behind the check-cashing store trying to stuff a gun in his pocket. When the officer went to approach the man, he took off. Police later caught the man, who was identified as Smallwood. Howard, the other suspect, was arrested later.
