Two Arrested In Connection With Charlotte Home Invasion

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Two arrests have been made in a Southwest Charlotte Home Invasion.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has arrested Davion Jerome Herron, 33, and Rashawn Shamario Sanders, 25 for breaking and entering a home on Cades Cove Drive on Friday.

A resident inside the home called 9-1-1 saying that her house was being broken into.  As officers arrived on the scene, the suspects tried to run away.  Officers were able to catch Mr. Sanders and Mr. Herron at that time.

Both suspects were transported to police headquarters to be interviewed by detectives.  During their interviews with police, both men admitted to planning the break-in.  They were looking for drugs and money that they thought were in the house.

Then while both suspects were being interviewed, an additional 9-1-1 call was placed, advising that the victims’ house was on fire.  The Charlotte Fire Department responded to the scene but was unable to contain the fire.  The CMPD Arson Task Force is now investigating what led to the house burning.

The homeowners weren’t home at the time, as the had left the residence after the robbery.

Rashawn Sanders and Davion Herron have both been charged with three counts of attempted robbery with a firearm, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, first degree burglary, and three counts of second degree kidnapping.   Mr. Herron has also been charged with firearm by convicted felon.
