Authorities in Union County have charged a couple that delivers newspapers with invading the homes on their delivery route and stealing valuable items while the families were on vacation. Charles and Amanda Bowers, both residents of Monroe, could be responsible for up to 20 home burglaries in Union County.
Of their victims, every one had a newspaper subscription and had ordered their paper delivery stopped because they were leaving town. The Bowers’ delivered the Monroe Enquirer-Journal as as well as the Charlotte Observer but were employees of an outside contractor.
Both suspects were charged with several counts of larceny and breaking and entering. Though Amanda does not appear to be in jail in Union County, Charles was listed under a $310,000 bond. The arrests come as the culmination of over 12 months of investigation by police.
