CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A former Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools worker accused of having sex with a middle-school girl will be in court Wednesday.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrested and charged George Mobley, 50, on Tuesday with indecent liberties with a minor, sexual activity by school personnel and providing alcohol to a minor.

The victim reported that she had met Mobley several years ago when he was a volunteer coach at her middle school.

During the course of a friendship that lasted several years, they engaged in sexual contact. Mobley also gave the victim an alcoholic beverage to drink during one of their encounters.

Mobley admitted to engaging in sexual activity while the victim was a student and he was a coach.

Mobley is no longer employed by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Police would not say which school he worked for, but CMS has been made aware of the incident.

There is currently no information that leads detectives to believe any further indecent liberties with children have occurred.
