Woman Caught Dealing Drugs Out Of Government Subsidized Apartment

SALISBURY, N.C. – Three people face drug charges after authorities served a search warrant at a Civic Park apartment Thursday morning.

Salisbury Police went to the apartment, rented by Kayla Danielle Jones, shortly before 10 a.m., and discovered ecstasy, marijuana and cocaine in the apartment. Jones, 24, was charged, as were two friends, one of whom officials say was already banned.

Desjuan Montre Clawson, 22, was charged with simple possession of marijuana, felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Clawson, was previously banned from the apartment complex.

Jones’ friend, Kyra Suere Robeson-Smith, 33, was charged with misdemeanor simple possession of marijuana.

Arrest reports said Robeson-Smith had 0.9 grams of marijuana inside her purse. Jones had a plastic bag with white powder residue and ecstasy or “Molly” in her wallet. The report said Clawson had one gram of powder cocaine, 0.7 grams of marijuana and 3.8 grams of crack cocaine in a pair of jeans that were found lying beside the bed.

The Civic Park Apartments provide subsidized housing for elderly, disabled and low-income families.  There are strict rules because it’s public housing. Drugs are not allowed on the property.  Along with criminal charges, the housing authority said Jones will be evicted.
