Woman Pleads Guilty to Stealing From Neighbor’s Deceased Child

Jessica Nicole WilliamsIn September of 2012, Crime in Charlotte (.com) posted a story about a Rowan County home that was burglarized while the family was attending their young son’s funeral. Days later, the family’s neighbors, Jessica Williams and Bobby Milam, were arrested and charged with the crime.

On Friday, 26 year-old Jessica Williams pleaded guilty to her charges in a Salisbury court room. Williams took what is known as an Alford Plea, which means she has not admitted to the crime, but recognized that there is enough evidence against her to convict her.

On  September 11th of 2012, Parker Munn drowned in a neighbor’s small pond after wandering away from home. While the family was attending Parker’s funeral, Williams and Milam entered the family’s home and stole several items. Among the personal items that Williams and Milam are accused of stealing are a wall ornament and Parker’s birth certificate book. Those items were found partially charred in a fire behind the defendants’ house.

The judge sentenced William to at least six months in prison. She will receive credit for the roughly 170 days she has already served in jail. When she gets out, she is will serve three months of probation and can not contact her ex-boyfriend Mobby Milam, who waived his right to a probable cause hearing. Williams will also pay Jessica Kepley, the mother one year-old Parker Munn, $5,000 for restitution and $3,000 for the items stolen from the boy’s room.
