CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. —Catawba County law enforcement officials say a woman is in jail after leading officers in a chase across two counties.

Angela Dale will be facing several charges including a hit and run and resisting an officer.

Officials said it started in Claremont when police pulled over a green Mercedes for stolen tags and took Jason Shook, 30, into custody. Officials said the passenger,Dale, 26, then slid over into the driver seat and took off, dragging one officer and running over another officer’s foot. That officer jumped in his car anyway.

Officials said the chase continued into Iredell County and then back into Catawba County.

After chasing the car through a neighborhood, deputies say the driver finally stopped at Word of Life Church on 19th Street S.W. in Hickory and ran into the woods.

Deputies called in the K-9 dog search units and looked for the woman, finally finding her.

Catawba County officials say Dale was charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a public officer; two counts of resisting an officer; two counts of giving fictitious information to an officer; possession of stolen goods; fleeing to elude arrest; injury to personal property; and several other traffic violations.

She was being held Wednesday under $42,000 bond in the Catawba County Jail.

Dale has a previous record of fleeing to elude arrest. She is on probation after being charged in April with fleeing to elude arrest and drug possession in Catawba County, according to state prison records.
